  • What I'm up to: Santa Clause decided to bring Me a new side image graph for Christmas! I have it hooked up, just haven't had time to play with it yet. This unit will help locate more fish in 2012! Other than that, fishing has been slow. I typically do not do as many trips this time of year. We are accepting bass trips now on the heated Lake Swepco near Gentry Arkansas. Fishing has been very good there. We have also begun booking spring trips, weekend dates are beginning to fill quickly. 2011 was a down year for fishing due to another epic flood. Judging by the amount of nearly keeper crappie this fall (thanks to recent year floods) we should have an excellent 2012. The crappie population in Beaver Lake is at its best in over 20 years. Happy New Year everyone! Good Fishing to all!

  • AGFC fishing report Beaver Lake: Beaver Lake As of Monday, the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers reports the lake’s elevation at 1,120.48 feet MSL (Normal conservation pool - 1,120 MSL). JT’s Crappie Guide Service (479-640-3980) said bass are biting ½-oz. jigging spoons along pole timber close to bluff lines in 25 to 45 feet of water. A crawdad-colored crankbait has also been effective along sloping chunk rock banks. Crappie fishing remains slow, but a dinner can be caught. Fish are holding tight to brush piles or pole timber in 20 to 40 feet of water close to channel drop offs. A minnow-tipped Shinee Hinee has been a good choice. Hickory Creek, Monte-NE, Eden Bluff and Blue Springs have been good places to try. White bass can be caught by slow-trolling a Hot-N-Tot or Bandit crankbait along main lake flats and points. Prairie Creek, Point 12 and Rocky Branch have all been good places to troll. Catfish can be caught late in the day into the night from the bank using cut bait or liver. Hickory Creek and the Highway 12 bridge have been good. Water temp has been in upper 40's.
